Last night it was clear, though rather windy and with some thin cloud coming in. However I had to have another go at Jupiter with it a bit higher in the sky. This is the result.
It’s cheating really; you don’t see it like that in the telescope. The moons are much fainter, and I have combined a photo with the moons (and Jupiter very over exposed) with a processed image of Jupiter. Again, that is from a video (120 seconds this time) using the best 5% of frames, and with subsequent processing to sharpen it a bit. It does, I think, have a bit more real detail than the last one.
The satellites are Io (to the left) and Ganymede (lower right). The colour difference is real, though I should have done a better job to get them closer to the real colours; Io is somewhat orange, and Ganymede yellowish.
I am still hopeful of a few really good nights in the autumn to do even better!
