I’ve walked in the hills for many years but never seen an adder before – I think this was a small female adder, seen in Dumfries and Galloway. The red eye with the vertical pupil, and the “V” marking on the back of the head, are the clues. The photo is a bit shoogly though!

Played fiddle today with the Greenbank Buskers at Edinburgh Farmers’ Market in Castle Terrace.
