Had a good bike ride with CTC Lothians and Borders today – 77km or so (about 48 miles). Nice leisurely pace with a picnic lunch stop at Chesters Iron Age fort in East Lothian – the photo is the view from there looking north across the Forth to Fife and the Lomond Hills. Getting closer to my 100km target for the end of the summer!

Had a great few days in Switzerland – staying in Basel, and visited Bern. Fantastic weather until the last evening when the torrential rain arrived – so we were lucky. Great food (Swiss specialities of course) and drink (also Swiss – wine and beer).

First proper summer day this year – walking in T shirts! Out to Bonaly then a little walk up Capelaw Hill. The crowds were out today, enjoying the sunshine and warmth. Good views to Ben Lomond in the west, beyond Ben Vorlich and Ben More to the north, the Fife Hills, and then locally the Pentland hills to the south. Hooray – proper sunshine at last! Thanks Anne for company.

Good weather in the south west (of Scotland!) this weekend. Exploring the Machars we came across this old signpost – I didn’t know the “Scottish Automobile Club” had ever existed! The beach is Back Bay near Knock on the west coast of the Machars. Also managed nearly 60km of cycling, and a great session at the Wigtown Ploughman this afternoon, where the nyckelharpa had another outing. Good fun! For only the second time this year we were able to eat outside again too.
