Good cycle ride with Edinburgh CTC group today in lovely sunshine. Last day of the summer? Met up at Fisherrow, then out via Ormiston to East Saltoun, Gifford, and Garvald to Stenton. Back via Haddington and Longniddry (coffee stop!). Including the ride from home and back to Fisherrow, the total distance was 107km (66 miles).

Cockenzie and Port Seaton walk
Making the most of the weather – a little walk in Cockenzie and Port Seaton with Marwyn. Notes added on the photos.

Almost total lunar eclipse
Well I never thought it would be Marwyn insisting that we get up for a lunar eclipse, but there you are … maybe years of being married to an astronomer is finally having an effect. It’s not exactly blood red though – more brownish.
2015 cycling target reached
Hooray! On Tuesday I achieved my cycling target for the end of this year – 103km (64 miles) in a single ride. I did a nice loop round from Gatehouse (a bit contrived to get up to the 100km) and it involved over 900m of climbing (according to Mapometer) as well. All in 4h 40m of riding time, just over 5h 30m of real time (lots of stops!). I am very pleased!

Tour of Britain 2015
I’ve just been watching the Tour of Britain cyclists heading up into the Lammermuirs – cycled up from Haddington to the first climb of the day.

Here’s a photo of all of us, as long as Facebook maintains the link:
Posted by The UK Nyckelharpa Project on Thursday, 10 September 2015
Got back today from the UK Nyckelharpa “Harpas at Halsway” weekend. Great tutors (Peter Hedlund, Didier François, Vicki Swan), great participants, the largest number of nyckelharpas ever seen together in the UK – a fantastic weekend. Lots and lots of new tunes!
Vicki also posted a video which is nice – as a teaser for next year!
