The Galloway Activity Centre have opened a little lochside sauna this year. It will take up to eight (though that would be a bit squashed – six would be a better upper limit) but I had it to myself for my test run!
I was soon ready! You have to be dressed for the occasion – nudity not allowed. A pity, but it’s quite public as small children are quite likely to go across between the sauna and the shore on their way to a sailing lesson! Not like Sweden 🙂
It’s lovely inside, very new, excellent hot stove!
Outside there are seats to change on (there’s a changing room indoors in the main building as well), and a cupboard to keep stuff out of the rain.
At the loch end it has a rather nice panoramic window with a lovely view.
It’s only a short distance to the loch; a stony beach (use swim shoes!), though I understand there’s a ladder on the jetty that I haven’t tried yet.
I will definitely be back!
