We like Kirkcudbright; lots to see: the harbour, the castle, museum, art gallery, Hornel’s house. Good shops too, and handy food take aways (though the wonderful Polar Bites chippy is no more and is now Swally n’ Scran seafood restaurant). This was a visit to Broughton House and garden, and a little wander.

The garden was in a good state, and we enjoyed a wander through it.

The garden overlooks the moorings on the River Dee.

After Broughton House we walked around the town; the old house where Jessie King lived has a lovely passageway through to the houses where people working with Jessie King used to stay.
