One reason for visiting southern Germany was to visit friends of Marwyn’s from when she lived there. Elisabeth lives in Radolfzell, and we met her and had a lovely visit to Reichenau by train and boat.

Glorious weather and very peaceful by the Bodensee.

There wasn’t a suitable boat from Radolfzell, so we travelled by train to Allensbach and took the boat from there.

Reichenau is a lovely island (though joined to Konstanz by a causeway); it has three old monasteries, one of which we visited.

The abbey of Sant Maria und Markus.

Back in Radolfzell Elisabeth gave us a short tour.

Radolfzell has been a tourist destination for some time!

Modern sculpture too, this about an old story.

I forget exactly what it was, but it was about looking through a window!
