We started to plan this trip last December, since we knew that accommodation might be hard to come by. In the event, we found somewhere excellent in central Lerwick, absolutely ideal for this visit. As usual, we travelled north by car, and took the Northlink ferry from Aberdeen to Lerwick; it called on Orkney to accommodate people travelling there for the island games.
We left Aberdeen in lovely sunshine.
As we sailed north the sunshine continued.
It was the same the following morning; there was just a bit of mist over Sumburgh Head, and as we entered Lerwick harbour.
We did our usual wander round the quiet centre of Lerwick in the early hours!
