We had booked a meal at the Lerwick Hotel in celebration of our anniversary – it’s the hotel where we held our celebrations!

First there was the usual early morning swim, watching a small cruise liner come in.

Another beautiful morning.

Interestingly, one of the small cruise ships in the harbour (at the Victoria Pier by the peerie boat harbour) was the Nordstjernen, one of the old Hurtigruten boats from the coastal route around Norway. We had taken that trip on one of the modern boats the year we both retired.

A somewhat larger cruise ship (though not as large as many) was anchored further out in the harbour.

Contrast between Viking ship and modern cruise ship.

Again it was such a lovely evening that I was back in the sea, with one of the local swimmers, and a couple who were from the cruise ship anchored in the harbour. They could not stay long as they had to be back on board!

Later we headed off the the Lerwick Hotel for our meal.

It’s been modernised a little since we married – but we were in the same room as our reception!
