A little trip through England and Wales on our way back from Halsway, to catch up with some family history.
We travelled into Wales via a scenic route, to end up in what was Flintshire when I had ancestors there.
We were visiting Halkyn where several generations of lead miners lived, before one eventually moved into Lancashire for the coal mining. First, though, we had a pub to find – the Pen y Bont Inn, where a relative on my mother’s side was landlady at the time of the second world war.
In Halkyn we saw the old school, graveyard where ancestors are buried, and another pub once lived in by family.
We visited Conwy where I spent many hours as a child.
I swam near Prestatyn, then we headed back to Wigan. Passing some coos!
The clock was misbehaving again …
We enjoyed a meal out with Anne.
