We visited this reconstruction of an iron age crannog – at the Scottish Crannog Centre. It’s really well done.
It’s very cosy inside – lots of soft stuff on the floor.
There are knowledgeable guides (we think we had an archaeology student) for a talk inside. They have tried to construct it close to the original that has been dived / dug at a location in the Loch.
The walkway is made from natural poles – it feels really authentic.
They have also made some hollowed out log boats. The hope is to build more crannogs – paddling between them would be fun!
